Necklaces & Cakes & Carling Cups

[Leggings - H&M, Studded Jumper Dress - Primark, Necklace - Unknown (I've a terrible memory, sorry!)]

I wore this simple, almost all black, outfit a couple of days ago to go for lunch and do some shopping with the boyfriend. The cake pictured was pretty much heaven on a plate, with possibly the best chocolate mousse filling I've ever eaten. I did feel slightly sick after I finished it, but it was worth it! I love this necklace that I wore, but cannot for the life of me remember where I bought it. I'm thinking it might have been Dorothy Perkins, but maybe it was Topshop... I really have no idea (at least on clothing items the label will always hold a clue)!

On a completely unrelated note, anyone who follows me on twitter or tumblr might know that I am a big Liverpool Football Club fan, and yesterday they won the Carling Cup trophy. My boyfriend, brother and I watched the game together and went insane when we won, so happy!

Ready To Pounce

[Bag - Urban Outfitters]

I came across this bag in the sale section of Urban Outfitters last month, reduced from £36 to just £5 & even though I wasn't totally sure if I liked it whilst it was hanging up in the store, I also felt that I couldn't leave without it... And I am so glad that I didn't!

It is now my favourite bag-of-the-moment. The bag that fits in all of my "essentials" (you know - three different lip balms, two packs of tissues, random spare camera batteries, that book you'll never get a chance to read, a million old receipts... Haha), and is completely practical, but also has a lounging leopard, staring down her prey stitched onto it... Amazing. As you can probably tell, I really am attached to this bag and will be very sad if it ever breaks!

What is your favourite bag that you own right now? :)

Introducing: Pinspire

I love finding a new social network to get addicted to & so when I found Pinspire I was very excited!

The website allows you to save and share your favourite images from all over the internet, by pinning them to your board using the Pin It button, which sits handily on your toolbar at all times. I'm the sort of person who can spend countless hours perusing pretty & awe-inspiring images (mainly of beautiful scenery, beautiful fashion & amazing food photography), so to have found a platform on which I can share the best images I find is fantastic!

To show you how easy it is to create a collection of images on your Pinspire board, I've put together a few screen-grabs showing me creating a new collection based on photographs from my blog.

Once you've found an image you like, click the Pin It button (you will add this to your toolbar when you join up) & a page like the screen-grab below will appear, from which you can select which image on the image from the webpage that you wish to add to your collection.

Once you've added a few images to your collection & added a short description, this is what the page will look like.
You can also look through images that other Pinspire users have added to their boards (here I have searched the term "gold" to find images) and re-pin them to your own board, or "like" them.
It really is easy to use, and is so fun being able to add an image to your board from anywhere on the web!
If you join up, make sure to follow me (I'm She's Dressing Up over there too). Let me know if you've joined in the comments below so that I can follow you back :).

Have fun & get pinning!

Military Approval

[Jacket - Topshop, draped knit (worn underneath) - H&M, Jeans - Primark]

I am currently in the middle of 5 days off work, and, as well as baking disasters (I attempted cherry bakewell cupcakes this afternoon, but they were certified "truly unpleasant to eat" by the boyfriend. He was correct.), drinks with friends, finding a new TV show to gorge on and shopping trips, on Friday we took a trip to the Tate Liverpool. We had a great afternoon and saw some amazing works (including pieces by Dali, Warhol, Jackson Pollock & Man Ray). It really made me wish I had more time to visit art galleries & museums. I think there should be an extra day in the week dedicated to cultural pursuits, am I right?!

I wore one of my favourite jackets, albeit a jacket that I neglect a lot, this military inspired wool jacket I got from Topshop a couple of years back. I really love it (I'm one of those people who will love fringing forever and always) & was so excited when I found one left in my size on a sale rack, after being indecisive over whether to buy it at full price. However, it gets neglected quite often because it is a pretty awkward length to wear, but I paired it with a long, draped jumper from H&M and seemed to work, yay!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend :)!

Marc Antony &...

Sweater: Topshop Unique
Leather & stretch jersey pants: Donna Karan
Studded high-tops: Giuseppe Zanotti
Triangle & Spike earrings: Topshop

I recently watched Cleopatra (1963) starring Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra & found all of her costumes really exciting and inspiring (plus, as a Classics graduate, I just love everything and anything related to ancient history). Then I remembered that Topshop Unique had printed her onto items in their S/S '12 collection and so felt compelled to create a look based around this amazing sweater!
I'm loving the gold, studded Giuseppe Zanotti sneakers & am adding them (or something similar) to my wishlist for Spring.

[Blouse - George, Skirt - Primark]

I feel like I spend most of my pay-cheque every month on grocery shopping. Almost everyday I am standing at the self-service tills in the supermarket, swiping the barcodes on endless packets of pasta, salad, vegetables and, inevitably, cake... But I very rarely venture into the clothing sections of supermarkets. I guess I'm just not a big fan of mixing the necessary and sometimes tedious food shop with my preferred (albeit admittedly less necessary) type of shopping - clothes, shoes, accessories.

However, I spotted this blouse on display in George at Asda last week and added it to my trolley, along with the ingredients for home made curry that my boyfriend was planning to cook (I can't cook to save my life & feel very lucky to have a boyfriend who loves to cook and bake)! To get to the point, I may have to venture into the clothing section more often, because I'm so glad I bought this blouse!

Paired with simple, snug lilac skirt and pumps, I wore this for a walk in mine & the boyfriend's new favourite spot to take the dog :).

Have a gorgeous weekend, everyone!

Aztec & Artists

[Sweater: New Look, Skinny trousers: M&S, Boots: New Look, Necklace: Topshop]

I'm still obsessed with oversized sweaters at the moment (it's getting colder and colder, so it makes sense, right?) I got this for Christmas and it is so big and comfy; it is like a big mug of hot chocolate in Aztec print knit form.

I went to see The Artist last night & I recommend it to everyone, it is such a great, clever movie. Plus, the costumes are amazing. I'm definitely feeling 1920/30s inspiration right now! :)
