Panda Eyes.

I've never played around with makeup for the blog, and since I work during the holidays I don't get a chance to wear much but the basics most of the time. But when I saw the dramatic eyemakeup on the models for the editorial "Dolly Mixture" in September's British Vogue I took note.
I wear eyeliner on most nights out, but the model's eyes were lined more extravagently than normal, and when I noticed this big 'panda eye' look thought it might be fun to see if it could ever look acceptable worn on a normal person, for a night out.

At first I painted a large circle around the eye as seen in the ed, but that definitely looked too wierd, so I decided to make the circle smaller and I can see myself trying it again for a full-on night of dancing!

What do you guys think? Is it just my love for eyeliner thats encouraging my liking for exaggerated black eyes? I'm sure there are some of you that aren't so keen on it!

P.S Cupcakes & Cashmere just mentioned how Macdonalds Ham-Burgler character this looks with the striped top, and I must point out to anyone who thinks I've gone insane that was just what I was wearing today when I was trying it out, I wouldn't thief-it-up with this look to leave the house! =]

i actually think this could be a really seductive make-up trick for going out, but i'd skip the stripes...you don't want to end up channeling the hamburgler from mcdonalds!

  2. you really pull it off!

  3. Cupcakes & Cashmere - haha yes I did notice how "burgler" this looked, but couldn't be bothered getting changed. Alas stripes wouldn't be worn normally.

    Good for Fancy Dress no?!

  6. aw i love pandas! but i think that should be the only black part of your ensemble, because its possible for there to be too much black

  9. i think it's awesome! i don't think people take to crazy makeup on blogs much as they aren't imagining it in a dark club with flashing lights and people all dressed up, there it would be so cool!

  11. This look would work great in a dark setting - it would make your face look more dramatic. I do a very toned down version of it during the day and there's something about dark-lined eyes that I think looks really unique.

  12. that's really cute...
u can definitely pull it off.
    Nice blog by the way

  13. I also agree: it kinda suits you :).

  14. you pulled it off well. and you can apparently put make up well. i am lousy at that. i am just always doing the sme routine, natural mke up.
but you look good in both, natural and non natural <3

  16. Hi nic-I think its perfect for a night out, you've just got it right without it looking too much-well done!!

  17. it actually looks really good on you, I wouldnt try it on myself quite thick since I have huge eyes and eyeliner makes them look small and weird but I like how it looks on you

  18. that is such a good point about the mcdonalds character!

    haha

but in a good way, he's quite the style icon!

  22. haha panda eyes sure look like fun, but if my makeup was like that at school, I sure would be the laughing stock for ages!

  26. Wild! Those are so fun. I think they look great, but I don't know if other people would accept them...

  27. Oooh, with that kind of make-up you'll definitely get noticed, haha. I think it's bold if you'd ever go out with that.

Thanks for the comment! To find the perfect trenchcoat isn't easy, but when you do you won't regret the effort. Good luck!

  28. kudos for the courage and creativity. i think it'd be a hit, if you're wearing it with some other than nu-rocks and a black leather trench. black eyes are never wrong - unless in terms of injury rather than the realm of make up.

  30. wow. the makeup in that editorial looks amazzzing.

and you actually pull it off!
but i agree that you shouldnt wear the striped shirt with the eye-makeup.

  31. hahaha the hamburgler comment is so funny--but i wouldn't have noticed otherwise. as for the makeup, i think it's very very ferosh.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hahaha, it does look like hamburgler-esque with the stripes! But otherwise I would say it worked out surprisingly well-- I'm sure not everyone could pull it off though! But it actually looks pretty good on you!

    ReplyDelete
  33. it does look very hamburgler with your stripey top. but i actually quite like it! i doubt i could pull it off but on you it looks pretty darn cool ;-)

  34. I quite like this make-up personally, definitely something I would try!

  35. When I saw the initial panda eyes I admit I was somewhat skeptical but I really like what you did with it! It's unique and could be cool for a crazy night out!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hmmm
    I like it but I don't.
It might be a little much for going out but it does look nice and puts focus on your eyes, which I really like!
So I'm stuck with a yes and no =P

  50. You inspired me to try my own version! Here's some pics! I wanted to keep the round shape, but make it fairly wearable for the brave.. but less 15 year old "punk" girl and more ageless space-princess ;O)
